Poker 1 on 1
Phil Hellmuth
Want to know who the bad boy of poker table is? He is no other than Phillip J. Hellmuth, Jr., forty-two year old professional poker player from Wisconsin. This poker expert has a number of poker success under his belt, one is being the youngest World Champion of poker when he beat Johnny Chan when he was only twenty four years of age.
Aside from that, he also has eight other bracelets from the World Series of Poker. This poker brat has also become Late Night Poker's third season champion. He also has the pride of being the first National Heads-up poker champion. Presently, his winnings in poker tournaments have already amounted more than six million dollars.
In his poker career, Hellmuth has not only earned many championships and tons of money. He has also gained the bad boy reputation because of his attitude at the poker table and his big ego. He is known for his rather rude, impolite, and unnecessary comments. His comments usually come after he is beaten by an opponent, especially if he believed that this opponent is nothing compared to him as a poker player.
You see, the more he wins, the more boastful he gets, that when he is beaten by a newcomer, he seems to not accept it easily. This quality does make him look bitter. Despite this negative reputation, many poker fans still look up to Phil Hellmuth. Because of his image, he has become one of the most popular players of poker.
Even though many people do not like Phil, the media certainly does love this poker player. After all, there are only a few poker experts who would dare give out scandalous remarks. Actually, there is a debate going on whether this poker brat is deliberately being rude to catch the cameras' and the viewing public's attention. If it is true, then, he has obviously succeeded. His books are selling like hotcakes, and it cannot be denied that his bad reputation has a lot to do with it.
His reputation, however bad it is, is not the only thing that helped him create his mark on poker history. He indeed is a good poker player, and he has all those championships to prove it.
Among the poker professionals of today, Phil Hellmuth has openly recognized the greatness of Annie Duke. He once has declared that Annie Duke is the best in all around poker.
