Some poker greats are better known for their poker nicknames. Sometimes, their fans do not even know what their real name is because their monicker has been used a lot in place of the real name.

Here are some of those unforgettable poker nicknames:

Mad Genius - for someone to get this nickname, he must be very intelligent and adventurous like crazy at the same time. That is just what Mike Caro is. His superb poker skills matched with his crazy guts made him one of the greatest poker players ever.

Robinhood of Poker - Barry Greenstein is the poker player who owns this nickname. We all know that Robinhood steals from the rich to give to the poor. That is just what Barry is. He beats the rich poker players, then, he shares his winnings with the less-fortunate ones. Other poker players are also into this kind of hobby.

The Knife - the owner of this nickname is no other than Martin de Knijff. It is seldom that a nickname is closely related to the real name of the poker player, but in Martin's case, it is. Knijff is the Swedish term for knife. Aside from that, his poker strategy is said to be as sharp as a knife.

The Flying Dutchman - to be a Dutchman, one should be from Holland, and that is where Marcel Luske came from. The word flying was added to his nickname just to make it sound funny, because Marcel is said to be a funny guy, even at the poker table.

The Master - a lot of poker experts teach poker lessons to novice players. Among them is Men Nguyen, who is the owner of this nickname. He was called "the young master" by one of his students, but he preferred to drop the word young because he thinks he is no longer that young to deserve that kind of title.

Fossilman - this weird nickname is owned by Greg Rayer. It is interesting to know that he got this nickname because of his equally weird card protectors which are made of fossils.

Little Man - often times, poker players are given nicknames based on their looks. Such is the case of Julius Oral Popwell. He was named the Little Man because he weighs more than three hundred pounds and he stands only five foot and six inches tall.

Devilfish - this nickname was given to Dave Ulliott by a Chinese man in one of his poker sessions. Later on, a friend remembers the incident and shouted the name in a poker tournament where Dave is playing. Ever since that day, Dave was known as Devilfish.
